COLONEL PG AZMALI BIN PG HAJI MOHD SALLEH
Director of Logistics

Colonel Pg Azmali bin Pg Haji Mohd Salleh is the current Director of Logistic for the Ministry of Defence Brunei Darussalam, a position he has held since 28 November 2016. He was enlisted into the Royal Brunei Armed Forces in May 1989, he graduated from the Infantry Officer Cadet Course (IOCC) at Singapore Armed Forces Training Institute (SAFTI) in March 1991.

Throughout his career, Colonel Pg Azmali has held several appointments at which includes as the Infantry Platoon Commander at RBLF in 1991, the Communications Officer at Support Service RBAF from 1994 until 1998, Staff Officer Grade 3 and Staff Officer Grade 2 Communications at Directorate of Operations from 1998 until 2002, Head of Defence Information Technology (DITU) MINDEF from 2002 until 2005, Staff Officer Grade 1 Communications Information Systems (CIS) at Directorate of Operation from 2005 until 2007, Staff Officer Grade 1 Future Systems Capability Development at the Directorate of Defence Force Capability Development from 2007 until 2010, ADC to His Majesty the Sultan from 2010 until 2014 and Staff Officer Grade 1 Joint Communications Information Systems (J6) at Joint Force Headquarters from 2014 until 2016.

Throughout his service and to furnish himself with suitable knowledge and skills, Colonel Pg Azmali had the opportunity to attend various courses and studies within the country and abroad. Among courses and studies that he attended was the Bachelor of Science in Command and Control, Communications & Information Systems at Royal Military College of Science Shrivenham (RMCS) Cranfield UK in 1991, Regimental Signal Officer (RSO) at Warminster UK in 1994, Peak Performance in 1995, Overseas Signals Officer Communications Course at Blandford UK in 1997, Crypto Management at Racal College United Kingdom in 1998. He then pursued his Master of Science in Design Information Systems at Cranfield University (RMCS) UK in 2002, He further enhanced his knowledge and skill by attending Effective interpersonal Skill and Communications in 2003, Managing Organisation Change in 2004, Project Management Foundation Course at Defence Science & Technology Agency (DSTA) Singapore in 2006 and National Resilience Institute Indonesia (Lemhannas) in 2016.

In recognition for his service and with the consents of His Majesty The Sultan And Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, Colonel Pg Azmali has been conferred with the Meritorious Service Medal (P.J.K) in 2016 as well as the Long Service and Good Conduct Medal (P.K.L dan P.B) in 2007.

Colonel Pg Azmali is happily married to Hajah Norkiah binti Pehin Orang Kaya Kesuma Dato Paduka Haji Ali and blessed with two daughters and two sons. He enjoys soccer, running, swimming and horse riding.


INTRODUCTION


Directorate of Logistics was established in November 1986. The Directorate is made up of a number of departments responsible for the full range of logistic activity:- supply, equipment support, housing and transport and movement.

The Directorate is responsible for formulating policy and Regulations such as Engineering, Materiel and Housing. In addition the Departments are involved in the day to day management of their respective systems covering topics such as management of UET, provision of Transport and Movements support, the provision and allocation of Housing, overseeing the Force wide repair process, as well as responsibility for the purchasing of SOP 20 items. As the managers of DEFLIS the Directorate is introducing a world class integrated logistic system which will provide a Force wide system giving us the capability to link unit QMs and LADs direct to Logistic Depots and Workshops. The purchasing of stores will become automated right from QMs and Stores Sections through to Logistic Depots and DFP. The approvals process for items such as SOP 20 equipment will also become automated.

Ensuring the effective operation of the Supply Chain through the accurate use of DEFLIS and Regulations is a major task, with a heavy involvement in unit FFRs and regular meetings with Service SO2 G4s. In the future this role is set to expand with the creation of a dedicated audit team with responsibility for ensuring that all logistic processes are fully understood and complied with.

The Directorate is also the focus for International Logistics. It is responsible for negotiating bilateral support arrangements such Memorandums of Understanding (MOU).

  • Ensure unit compliance with logistics policy and regulations
  • Engage and establish logistics cooperation with other internal and external agencies
